iTunes Podcast approval required? Let’s hope we’re interpreting this wrong

iTunesApple yesterday demo’d a version of iTunes that has some built-in Podcasting features. The interesting part, and the part I hope we’re misinterpreting, is that “Podcasts developers will be given the opportunity to submit their broadcasts to Apple for consideration and that the company will pick a seleected list to add to the iTunes software list.”

Everyone seems to be interepreting this to mean that iTunes will *only* be able to subscribe to Apple-approved Podcasts. I think they’re wrong. I hope so. My guess is that while it will come bundled with Apple-approved podcasts (much like Safari comes bundled with Apple-approved Bookmarks), users will have the ability to customize that list to their heart’s content.

I too am worried about who does the selecting of podcast to list in their iTunes directory. My podcast clips my never meet what they want to present depending on who kissed who’s butt.

I ran into this once before in the broadcast industry.

About six years ago I created a comedy series called:

Jonathan Boss Agent fourteen and a half ……licensed to commit justice and in service to his country brings terror to those with hearts of evil.

At that time is was slated for radio broadcast but the enviornment in the broadcast industry changed and it was never used. With the advent of podcasting the series has found a home. I hope you enjoy it.

The URL to my feed of Jonathan Boss and other comedy clips can be found at:
