It's funny, too -- yesterday at lunch I was reading an issue of Bottom Line: Personal where they gave this exact warning and advice. Every time my ATM expires, they send a debit card as a replacement. I always call and tell them to send an ATM-only card to avoid this situation. Sorry you had to learn this the hard way!
