Everyone who bought an <insert name of gadget here> on day 1 *knows* that it’s going to be cheaper at some point down the road. But that’s not why you buy <insert name of gadget here> on day 1, is it?
(Timely translation: No sympathy for people complaining that they bought their iPhones before the price dropped $200)

Yeah, I’m guessing that Mac 5300cs powerbook I’m hanging onto isn’t going for more than 2 bucks on Ebay……when I worked at Apple, my fellow employees were standing in line to throw a few thousand at that one. Now a 1964 Fender Jazzmaster was probably worth the effort back in the day!
I disagree…I wrote about this this morning on Apple Matters, Thanks Apple of the $200 Bitch Slap. We all expect prices to go down, but a 33 percent reduction less than 90 days (63 days to be precise) is too much.
Nice to see Apple agrees with me! I think the $100 towards the Apple store is a perfect compromise.
I’m not sure what you’re disagreeing with in my Gadget Law. You mean you bought it on day 1 because of the price?
The advice I’ve given many times over the years is this: the only day the price of anything you need (car, computer, phone, sledgehammer, TV) matters is the day you buy it. If you want/need it that day, and the price is acceptable that day, buy it. Then don’t look at prices again until you need something else. Rinse. Repeat.
